Message Seller. I'm not sure the exact model number or year. I believe it was made in the early 90s 91 or Electronics have no noise issues and work great. The pickups are original VH1's. Good PAF sound. All hardware is original made in Japan. The truss rod works perfect. Guitar weighs 9. Looks like a four piece back.
Messages 11, Too much money for a knock off. IMHO unless you really like it. Then it doesn't matter. As always WTF do I know though. Messages 5, Yeah, I've owned a bunch of those. I don't buy them without serial numbers though. Most of them were pretty okay. Some were a tad heavy for me. That price is too high.
Go on ebay and look under completed items for a fairer idea. Lots of people ask big prices for MIJ guitars, but they rarely sell for that. The whole Edwards thing really knocked the hell out of that market. Messages 1, Too much generalization in these responses, imho. Again, the upper, high-end versions are what I refer to. Super Grade is the top of the Burny line and they are made in Japan. Super Real is the top of the Greco line and also made in Japan. The earlier Burny's are better as the tops are one piece. The newer ones have a figured veneer on a solid maple cap. I've had three Super Grades and the oldest one - a white RR style Custom was an absolute joy to play. Gasp Gold Supporting Member. This is the most impressive piece of it's kind I have about a grand in mine with the pups. It will never leave me for less!! Many excellent Burnys won't have a serial number. My Super Grade probably an 85 or so happens to have a "serial number" stamp in the front pup cavity, but that seems to be a bit odd since everything else dates it to mid-eighties. It's a great guitar and the good ones do in fact sell for decent money, albeit less than comparable Tokais and Grecos.
That sounds like a load of fun. The folks on the Tokai forum and the info at the following link should help. The first cipher usually gives the manufacturing year. The ones with FGxxxxx serial numbers usually mean, made in China.
